Who We Are

UMCOR's NGO unit was formed in 1993 as a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that provides transitional development and relief assistance to communities in need around the world. Throughout its lifetime, the organization has supported projects in 18 countries either directly or through local partners using private and public funds. UMCOR NGO currently operates field offices in 11 countries.

UMCOR NGO is a signatory to the "Code of Conduct in Disaster Relief" and upholds the SPHERE Minimum Standards in Disaster Response.

Mission

Responding to natural or human caused disasters, UMCOR's mission is to alleviate human suffering with open minds to all religions and open hearts to all people. UMCOR is a humanitarian, non-proselytizing agency of The United Methodist Church. The NGO unit within UMCOR has been established to provide a professional and highly skilled humanitarian response to crises.

UMCOR NGO provides transitional development and relief assistance internationally by working collaboratively with local communities to assist them in building peace, restoring social stability, revitalizing community structures, and empowering their members to retake control of their lives.
